This sparked the question in me, “Can she do that?” An internet search turned up a “Righteous Rager” prestige class and references to a “Righteous Whirlwind feat.” So I humbly ask all here in the comments section… what manual has the “Righteous Whirlwind feat?” I sounds like an awesome manual that I hope to Pelor I have.
Generally I use 3.5e when writing the comic, so this is probably against those rules as written. Smite Evil says it only works with a “normal melee attack”, though it doesn’t specify what “normal attack” means. The feat Whirlwind Attack says you use a full round action to give up all individual attacks to make one attack against every adjacent enemy. Pathfinder Smite Evil works a little differently, but there’s no reason you can’t use smite and whirlwind at the same time. The Righteous Rager prestige class looks to be a homebrew class with all the information available for free on wikipedia. I’ve not really explored 4e and it doesn’t look like 5e has any kind of whirlwind attack yet. Ultimately, sometimes you just have to go with the “rule of cool” and I thought it was a clever idea for Anorra.
Not only was it cool as written, it was fun to design. Sometimes I don’t know exactly how things that are written in the script will look until I put pencil to paper. A Druid would not like the abuse of trees that I have committed in making this comic so far.
Darn, I was REALLY hoping for a manual. Could only imagine the fun magic items a manual like that would have had. And yes, the Righteous Rager is a homebrew class. Was the only one I could find.
Oh no! Look out behind you, Anorra!
PS. Really glad you’ve resumed updates!
